ABSTRACT: This study examines the impact of socio-economic factors on access to vocational training, emphasizing the need to understand and mitigate barriers that prevent equitable access to education. The objectives were to (1) identify key socio-economic factors influencing vocational training access, (2) evaluate the extent to which these factors affect different demographic groups, and (3) propose strategies to improve access to vocational training for disadvantaged populations. A survey design was employed to gather data from students, educators, and community leaders, providing a comprehensive view of the barriers to vocational training. The sample size included 250 participants, selected through a purposive sampling technique to ensure diverse perspectives from those impacted by socio-economic barriers. The case study focused on Ogun State, Nigeria, an area with notable socio-economic disparities. Findings indicated that factors such as family income, parental education level, and geographic location significantly influenced access to vocational training. Students from low-income families and rural areas faced the most substantial barriers. Recommendations included implementing scholarship programs, providing transportation subsidies, and developing community outreach programs to raise awareness and support for vocational training among disadvantaged groups, thereby improving access and participation.
